Crossroads
Our education system is flawed, by flawed I mean how absurd does it sound when I say that you have a few years to decide possibly the rest of your life? This all came about while at a school district award ceremony; I got bored and decided to sketch in my notebook/planner and looked back to all the possibilities that could’ve been. Growing up I was very talented in more than a single subject, art being one of them. When Senior year of high school began everyone around me seemed like they were just waiting on a queue; They already knew where they were going and what they wanted to do with their lives. I on the other hand was at a complete lost, I had so many skills and talents that I eventually came across a fork in the road. I had four options by the end of high school.
- Go to either Pasadena City College or Citrus Community College on a Scholarship to do Track & Field.
- Go to Laguna College of Art & Design to pursue Art and Photography
- Go to California State University Northridge to pursue a Elementary Teaching career
- Go to Arizona State University to pursue a High School History Teaching career.
But now this is all in the past, and I am where I am. But it’s just funny reminiscing on all the possibilities that could’ve been. Who knows? I maybe could’ve been a Track Star in another school by now if I took those Community College Scholarships.
